Some Little Festive Treats

First I must apologise for the complete lack of blogging since I can't even remember when, today I decided to try out a little recipe seen on 'Lorraine's Last Minute Christmas' last night. It was very last minute indeed and involved running through the rain to get to the village sweet shop for extra chocolate and sweets.

To make these scrumptious treats you will need:

  • All the dark, milk and white chocolate you can get your hands on.

I used a bar of each but I think to get a really good amount I would suggest a bit more, I made use of cooking chocolate as it tastes good and is a little cheaper than the fancy stuff but it really doesn't matter

  • A selection of toppings

I made use of chocolate covered coffee beans, chopped up Daim bar, mini marshmallow's, fudge and smarties

  • Baking trays
Whatever size works.

  • Grease proof paper

And here is how it was done...

Melt the chocolate over simmering water. If you are, like me, easily distracted, if the water boils simply add milk bit by bit to restore it to smooth consistency.

Once the chocolate is melted pour the base chocolate into a baking tray, not too thickly, then add in the milk chocolate and swirl the two into a pattern with a fork.

Add your toppings as you please, I have split the toppings in two to create two different selections. Press the toppings in a little and then swirl a little white chocolate on top.

This is one I made for my little brother and sister, with mini marshmallows and smarties to be a little more child friendly.

Tomorrow the festivities begin, I am on pudding duty with sticky toffee puds, rice pudding and cheese cake to make...
